Assistant Distribution Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a full time Assistant Distribution Manager, you will oversee day to
day center operations, including unloading trucks, distributing products
to our Independent Contractors, completing distribution reports, making
sure deliveries are made on time, and following up with IC's, staff and
customers to ensure that customer service goals and objectives are
met/exceeded.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications include two or more years of distribution supervisory
experience, knowledge of the geography of the assigned area, excellent
communication and computer skills, customer service focus and dedicated
work ethic. HS diploma or equivalency required.

Single Copy Sales Manager
Job description:
The Hour Publishing Company is looking for
self-motivated professional to lead our single copy sales division. We
re looking for an enthusiastic leader with a commitment and dedication
to customer service and oversee a group of independent contractors.
You will be responsible for increasing retail sales of our newspaper by
recruiting, training and motivating single copy agents. You will also
make regular visits to retailers to improve positioning, and increase
display to increase newspaper sales and help the retailer increase in
store traffic
The successful candidate will be responsible for the newspaper rack
repair. In the absence of contracted carriers, the Single Copy Manager
assumes responsibility for the delivery of routes.
You must be a flexible self-starter able to function with minimum
supervision, have excellent time management, organization, customer
service and sales skills. The position requires above average
resourcefulness to provide single copy contractors with guidance in
identifying new sources for single copy sales locations and developing
these sources.
The Single Copy Sales Manager must be independent, show initiative, and
be entrepreneurial, self-directed, show leadership, common sense and
good judgment in all situations. Must not be afraid to take risks or use
innovative techniques to accomplish goals.

Job description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL JOB FUNCTION
This exempt position concentrates efforts in managing the daily
operations leading to the successful distribution of newspapers and/or
other products to the client s customers in accordance with corporate
policy and standard operating procedures, ensuring customer service
goals and objectives are met and/or exceeded.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the daily operation of a distribution center.
Oversee the printing, review and distribution of daily mail in
advance of operations.
Supervise the unloading of delivery trucks, ensuring receipt of
the proper quantities of all newspapers and other products, as
applicable.
Oversee the accurate distribution of copies to independent
contract carriers.
Manage the communication of complaints or delivery requests to
independent contract carriers on a daily basis (including a daily review
of the previous day s complaints).
Prepare the weekly route settlement to ensure proper payment to
contract carriers for services rendered.
Maintain the distribution center files, including proper
sequencing of subscriber accounts and street directory maintenance.
Show geographic territory to new independent contract carriers,
including route assimilation.
Ensure that procedures are followed which will enable every
subscriber to receive a dry, undamaged copy of the product, on time,
every day that is included in the subscriber's product code.
Recruit, interview, hire and train the distribution center
support staff.
Contract independent contract carriers.
Follow up to resolve all customer complaints and requests.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the independent
contractor agreement, and administer it effectively. Utilize the terms
of the independent contractor agreement to insure the best possible
service.
Manage the geographic territory to ensure the best possible
delivery service in the most cost-effective manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to oversee distribution operations, positively impacting
customer service.

Single Copy Operations Manager
Job description:
The Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram, one of New Englands premier daily newspapers, has an immediate opening for a Single Copy Operations Manager to oversee the single copy distribution and collection functions. Located on the beautiful southern Maine coast, with office buildings in historic downtown Portland, we are an award-winning newspaper with a circulation of 70,000 daily and 110,000 Sunday.
This position oversees the work of staff collectors and manages the contracts of independent distributors who are ultimately responsible for the prompt and accurate delivery to all single copy sales locations. Other responsibilities include communicating and coordinating all sales program-related activities with field personnel, as well as monitoring and reporting sales results.
The successful candidate will have solid experience in single copy sales/operations management. A college degree is preferred. Management experience in a union environment is strongly desired. Computer experience in Word, Excel and Outlook is required. Valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle are required.
